Who are the real killers? The guns or us? Gun control is not one issue, but many. The gun laws today are getting looser and looser when it comes to who can buy them and use them with or without license. For some people gun control is a crime, but to others it is right. Today, in the United States, gun control should be a top priority due to technology advances, which makes people feel a sense of security. However, these expectations are lost because of many deaths. For example, school shootings nationwide. School shooting has plagued our school systems in the recent past. The carnage and horrible pictures do not tell the story, but gives a glimpse of horror. The United States should put policies and laws to help eliminate school shootings. Taking all these thoughts into consideration may save a life. …show more content…
According to Everyone for Gun Safety, “There have been 144 shootings on school campuses in the United States since 20 children and six adults were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown on December 14”. Many schools have implemented strategies to eliminate the damages and loss of life in possible future attacks. Schools can try to prevent shootings by putting gun detectors. Such device can detect any weapon entering the premises. Based on Christian Connors, the CEO of shooter detection, they have install in some school such a device that detects guns or weapons. “It is basically a smoke alarm for gun fire detection; the ShotSpotter technology provides immediate notification, precise location and audio replay gun fire occurrences” (CEO Shooter Detection). In February 2nd, 1996 Barry’s Loukatis, wearing a normal cloth went to his math class and opened fire with a rifle (Garbanino9).
