Same-sex marriages has taken a toll on American people over the last decade or more. In this paper I will go over the history of same-sex marriage, religion and sex-marriages, discrimination, ideal image of a family, and how legalizing same-sex marriage will truly create equality for all. First, Same-sex marriages and couples has been around form even before Christianity. There has been many evidence that show same-sex marriage was accepted and was consider normal before Christianity was around. Artifacts from Egypt, for example, show that same-sex relationships not only existed, but the discovery of a pharaonic tomb for such a couple shows their union was recognized by the kingdom. Most religion believes that procreation is the main reason for marriage. I fell this is very misleading because now days people are having babies without being married. You have children baring babies and couples that are dating baring children for one another. The quality of a relationship should be the most important aspect for marriage. Marriage should be unconditional love, trust and faith for one another. If marriage is supposed to be for having children than same-sex marriage should not be an issue with new advancement in science. Christianity believes that a perfect family includes one mother and one father. Both of the parents influence the child in different ways. Many feel that in a homosexual relationship with a child involved they will not get the motherly and fatherly qualities needed. However, now of days many children are raised in a one parent household. How is this any different than two fathers raising a child or two mothers? As long as the child is learning right from wrong and is surrounded by love, they will grow up and develop like many other children. The number of parents or the sexuality of the parents should not affect the child. Finally, the debate on same-sex marriages ends. June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage is a right protected by the US Constitution in all 50 states. (ProCon.org, 2015) When can conclude that same-sex marriage has been around since before Christianity and should be accepted as a way of life.
