Do you know the reason why you were born in this free country named “America”? America wasn't always the land of the free and the home of the brave, before all that happened it started with the Europeans that came for religious freedom and to find more land where they could spread their culture. Even though the Puritans had invaded the Native Americans land, the Native Americans still helped the Puritans. If it weren't for the Native Indians the Europeans would have been starving, homeless, and nowhere to go. Being the first Europeans to come to this new land the Puritans didn't know anything that was surrounding them.…

The United States of America: “The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave,” as noted in Francis Scott Key’s, The Star Spangled Banner. But does America really justify this claim? During the early 19th century, America had seen hope, independence, and freedom. In fact, the “Declaration of Independence” epitomizes all three of these aspects. The “Declaration of Independence” granted the 13 original colonies freedom from Great Britain.…

Occasionally terrible things happen, but it's not the fault of our country, only the individual(s) responsible. There are some bad people in the world, and that is such an unfortunate reality that I think some people let cloud their minds and soil places/groups/countries as a whole. What really makes America special to me, and why I have such a strong admiration for my country is our ability to deal with terrible situations. The way we come together as a nation is truly inspiring. Whether it's peaceful protests or marches, food drives, volunteering, or any sort of help, the people of America are truly some of the most giving and kindhearted people I have ever seen or met.…

America is the land of the free, because of the brave. Americans enjoy many freedoms because of the democracy our ancestors fought very hard to establish. Freedom summarizes what being an American is about, but it’s not what an American is. An American is someone who is brave enough to do something even though the punishment is severe, someone who sees opportunity and stops at nothing to achieve it, and someone who doesn’t take the easy way out. Bravery is part of the definition of an American.…

The United States of America is no stranger to tragedies. Whether it be the Columbine High School Massacre or the shooting at Virginia Tech, America has been plagued by terrorism and the murder of many civilians. Although often thought to be unstoppable, I have constructed a plan to end the reign of terror. By instating strict gun control, intensive outpatient therapy for military veterans, and allocating money for more intense security in public spaces, the United States government can efficiently protect the citizens from the atrocities that have plagued the country in the past.…

By Federal law gaining legal access to a gun is a process simpler than a refinancing a family home in the United States. Our government states that under federal law a licensed gun dealer cannot sell any handguns and/or ammo to anyone that is under 21 and can’t sell long arms (Shot guns/ rifles) to anyone under the age of 18 but an unlicensed dealer cannot sell handguns to anyone under 18 and can sell long arms to anyone regardless of age. Everyday there are up to nine deaths under the age of 21 daily, leaving us with an issue that has been here for such a long time but has been continuously ignored and overlooked because most people go about finding solutions for guns in extreme ways. It’s not about getting rid of guns but controlling how…

Vigilant Redemption In a world where crime spreads like a disease, where many men and women are scared to even step foot outside their own home; what is there that can be done? One would think that a logical decision would be to increase law enforcement resources, maybe, or tighten laws to help prevent criminals from committing certain crimes.
