Persuasive Essay On Sabbath Day

Decent Essays
It was recently brought to my attention that Saturday is Sabbath Day. I am inquiring as to whether or not it would be possible for me to have Saturdays off in the future for the purpose of honoring the Sabbath. I realize that it would take some time to make arrangements as I am already on the schedule and we would be working around vacation periods for several drivers over the next few months. Thank you for considering this matter.

Australia day commemorates the anniversary of the arrival of the first fleet on the 26th of January 1788. To some, it means the beginning of the dispossession of aborigines and the lost of their culture, but to others that was the birth of a great nation. This time of the year sparks many debates on whether Australia day should be celebrated or not. Chris Berg contends that the emergence of Australia as a great and powerful nation cannot be pinpointed to a certain date, nor is the 26th of January necessarily a date to rightfully celebrate on in his article ‘there is much to celebrate on Australia day’, in which he adopts an evaluative tone. Alternatively, in her article ‘changing the date won’t fix Australia day’, Celeste Liddle argues rationally…

The Mill Valley High School Board members should reject the proposed idea of a later school day because it is beneficial to students with after school activities such as sports and jobs. The idea that a later school day is beneficial towards students is preposterous because students with after school activities and jobs would need to be out of school at an earlier hour. Take John Sherwood’s testimony for example. He complains, “But it’s going to make football practice a nightmare. We won’t be able to be dressed and on the field until 4:45, and in October, it starts getting dark by 5:30...…

Today, one area of concern for the public involves the issue of prayer in schools around the nation. Now, there are some who feel that prayer should not be allowed in schools; alternatively, many others contend that prayer should be allowed in schools. While this complex issue, upon delving into the subject further, it becomes apparent that prayer should not be prohibited in schools, because it supports the freedom of religion principle, acknowledges religious heritages, and offers many social benefits. When examining any issue, it is critically imperative to analyze it from all aspects; one must be certain to acknowledge the advantages of prayer in school and why it would be beneficial to include it in schools worldwide. What do you think the percentage of sleep-deprived teens are in America? If you guessed 85%, you are correct. Most teens are battling depression, drug and alcohol abuse, and many other physical, and mental problems, just because they are not getting the right amount of sleep they need. Teens even stay up later than they should because their school projects and homework are getting piled up. Good Moring Mrs Davies and class, Celebrating our national day on the date of British settlement in 1788 has never been a date that brings all Australians together, no matter how many flags we wave or happy barbecues we may enjoy. For many Indigenous Australians, the date is no holiday but a reminder of their country being taken over by others. It completely disrupted a way of life that had been undisturbed for 50,000 years. The date of Australia Day is a disrespectful celebration towards aboriginal Australians.…

Studies show that students are more alert after nine o'clock. With school starting at 7:44, the first two periods seem like a waste. Just three years later Kent’s brother Brendon died when he was only eight months old from diarrhea, vomiting, and breathing issues that lasted for more than a week. The untimely deaths of these brothers were the consequences of their parent’s decision to choose faith healing over seeking medical attention. This is just one example of a case in which faith healing resulted in the death of a juvenile. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, faith healing is “a method of treating diseases by prayer and exercise of faith in God.”…

People today would like to have shortened school days. I would like to say that I agree with some of those statements. It’s not that I don't like school it's the fact that I agree that people waste too much time in their classes and don't get any homework done. For example, if a student is give a in class assignment, they will not do it because I don't know if it's the fact that they are too lazy to search for the answers or if they just get bored of classes.…

Mental health is one of the biggest problems facing the world today. Lives have been lost through improper treatment of unstable individuals time and time again through mass shootings and other tragedies. Guns are often blamed as the culprit for these attacks but I disagree. While stronger gun control could help lessen the effects of mass shootings, it's not solving the common problem these shootings have in common with each other, the shooter is almost always a mentally unstable person. Banning the weapon a person uses won't make as much of a difference because if the person is unwell, they will just use other means to accomplish their goals.…
