The option for them to die will be there. This will give them the relief of knowing that if things do get to such an extent where daily life becomes intolerable and agonizing, the option for them is there. With the option of assisted suicide just being there this will make the person make a decision between life and death and let them see the value between death and life before they decide. Whereas if the option is not there they begin to fear death. They begin to become scared that they will die a unhurried, torturous death. For a country who made torture illegal we allow this to happen. We stand by and let people die in wretched circumstances. We can make torture illegal yet when it comes to letting people who are suffering die a quick, painless death it is illegal to. Loved ones have to stand by and watch. They witness the discomfort and misery they go through day by day. With the legalization of the dying act this will not only help the patient but their family and friends who surround them. They will know that their loved one's death was not in pain, that they did not suffer. Just knowing that lifts a weight off a loved one's shoulder because they know their death was how they wanted it and that they knew the time was right for them to
