Persuasive Essay On Pro Death Penalty

My teacher then questioned why each of us chose their position, and many hands shot up in the air eager to answer. A student who believed in pro-death said that eradicating the criminal would teach society a lesson in not committing the crime, but this could not be farther from the truth. Most people who are murders are often suffering mental disorders like the notorious Ted Bundy, who suffered an extreme case of antisocial disorder. These miscreants did not do it simply because they desired to inflict pain but because they had mental disorders that manipulated their mind into justifying something wrong into right. Using the Death penalty as a means to teach society a lesson would simply not work since mental disorders are a matter of genetics and often poor stressful childhoods which society has little control over. …show more content…
And though I stayed firm in my opinion, I am not dismayed by people who were pro death penalty because they had their valid reason and I had mine. I realized the reason why the death penalty was such a controversial subject was because it had so much evidence to back up every claim. Each case is a unique, and the rules that apply to one cannot apply to another. This taught me that I must hold an open mind because there could be more to a story, issue or event than is seen. There can be not only two sides to a story, but multiple dimensions to it. Though I still believe that the Death penalty is unjust, I have learned to keep an open mind because there can be more to an event that is seen by the naked eye and that each issue must be inspected under a microscope as each one is unique to itself. And I respect their opinion as diversity of opinion keeps us asking and questioning each other, as it helps to keep us thirsty to find solutions to better the world we live
