Poverty remains one of the most severe harms against humanity in society today.
Today, the question is not why one of two children in the world remains in poverty while
a plethora of people live luxurious lifestyles, as we know the reasons are lack of
education, lack of health care, and lack of income equality, but rather how this
detrimental problem can be mitigated.
Poverty will never truly be eliminated. However, by eliminating the causes of
poverty and providing opportunities for children to escape poverty early on, the effects

Ironically, the name of the program that allows for
tutoring is called ASPIRE tutorials, but the name perfectly fits the goal of the program. I
have tutored many kids before from middle-class and even wealthy backgrounds, but it
was nothing like tutoring these kids. Despite the language barrier, these kids genuinely
wanted to learn and actively came to the tutorials by choice, and that is not something
you see every day. Moreover, we educated the children on the importance of preventing
disease through handwashing, healthy eating habits, and vaccinations. The other
interns and I organized free vaccination drives in association with Texas Children’s
Mobile Healthcare Clinic and free health clinics where the patients were able to get free
checkups, which were both ultimately successes. On the day of the vaccination drive
alone, we had more than 100 kids vaccinated in a matter of just 4 hours. With
