Essay On Police Job

Police officers being fired for aiding to their families during Hurricane Katrina may seem very absurd and outrageous, but if you look into it, it may not have been that crazy. I believe that the police officers have a job to do and they should not abandon them. I understand that they have families to take care of, but they did agree ,under an oath, that they would be there for their job. Your job is something that is very important to you and not being there can affect not only you, but other people as well. If other people in other occupations did this, the job industry would deteriorate, even worse, it will hurt people who go to these people for protection, security, and many other reasons. I know that family is important, but there has to be boundaries where you can only miss a certain number of days and not be off duty for so long. If they were to take a day or two off to take care of a personal issue, then that would be fine. Like officer Schubert, who was let go of his job for leaving work, asked for permission to have a few days off was okay. But he and other officers spent a lot longer time than they intended and neglected their job. I don 't think it’s right to leave your job, especially being a police officer where you have a duty and responsibility to always be there for the public. For police officers, they know what they are doing by signing up to become a police officer. Not being able to follow through on your own word is costly when it comes to your job.
