Persuasive Essay On Otters

Help the Otters Have you ever thought of losing an animal? Do you think you can help us save animals? Otters come in with parasites, fungal infections, upper respiratory infections, wounds from other animals, and not being able to swim. Otters are being rescued because they are being not being treated correctly. Otters need your help because people are killing them for multiple purposes. More than 680 otters have been rescued. The Florida Aquarium has helped many otters. The aquarium helps otters by taking them in and giving them the help they need. I am here before you today to ask if you will donate your time and money to the Florida Aquarium to help the otters in need, who are being hurt. Otters are not the first animal you would think of to be in need of our help. In Otter Rescue the INFOhio Article I found said that, “A century ago, fur trappers hunted the animals to near extinction. That’s why the government banned most otter hunting in 1972” (6). This shows that people actually had otters almost gone. Otters should be treated like any other animal because they were almost endangered. In the book Otter Rescue the authors Jill Bailey and Ann Baum said, “There are about 1,800 off the California coast… That was before they were discovered by fur trappers, first from Russia, and later from Spain and other countries” (8). Fur trappers discovered them and wanted their fur. Jill and Ann wanted to say that, “Otters are being illegally shot” (15). People are thinking of them as any other animal that can hurt them.
