For example, cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death in Americans and is a main health consequence of being obese and overweight. Children who are obese are also at greater risk for high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, breathing problems, and psychological and social problems. They are also at risk of becoming obese adults. Therefore, it is important that childhood obesity is prevented and the threat of this generation of children and adolescents having a shorter life span is avoided. Schools are a primary location that can help prevent childhood obesity. National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program should be a good start to ensure that children are able to take food that is recommended by professional dieters and pediatricians because they understand the needs of the children since they are the ones who are involved in their health and wellbeing (Paxson, 3). Various educational programs have been instituted across the country to ensure that children and adolescents can engage in programs that are supposed to ensure that they reduce weight without undergoing a lot of complications. One example of such a program is the Maine Youth Overweight Collaborative, which has been used to teach families in the way that they can have healthy living formulas in their home without being overly expensive (Peek, 30). Through the support from the government, the fast food industries, beverage and confectionery makers should follow these initiatives which can also be extended to neighborhoods like corporate social responsibility platforms. In doing this collaborative venture with the government and other sponsors who can take up such an initiative then it will be achievable, and it will boost the chances of eradicating obesity in the American society. This is because if the obesity menace is not handled before it becomes…

Household and school dietary choices will improve the performance of students at the charter school. Creating healthy dietary habits in children through the school system is a salient objective in our country; seeing over 1 in 6 children in America are considered obese according to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services data collected in 2010. This shockingly high number displays that obesity is not simply a condition that only adults live with. Malnutrition deprives a child of their daily nutritional needs; however, this does not mean that the child does not over eat. Eating over processed foods can create an excess amount of calorie intake without the needed nutrition of the child. Furthermore, “There is strong evidence that nutrition education interventions and obesity prevention programs targeting dietary behavior…can positively affect the AP of primary school children” (). This is what makes nutritional education and intervention vital within our youth. A gardening section on school grounds would provide the following: nutritional education, plant life education, an outdoor physical activity, promote better student performance as well as providing fresh produce to supplement the free lunch meals. If this needs is met it has the potential to create an effective deterrent to the obesity within he school as well as give additional nutrition enhancements to the current free meal system at Ignite Innovation…

Obesity is a rising epidemic for children and adults alike, all across America. Out of all adults in America, 68.8% of all adults are to be considered either overweight or obese, and at least ⅓ of all Americans actually are obese. However, it can be changed, as it states in the article The Dangers of Eating Fast Food, “Showing children how to prepare low fat snacks and meals may deter them from developing unhealthy eating patterns and prevent the onset of obesity and disease.” Obesity needs to cease, as it lowers academic standards. We also need to watch our diet, what we eat, and monitor other things such as our blood pressure cholesterol.…

The alarmingly increase in childhood obesity has been affected by many factors, in fact, “Nationwide, obesity stood at 29.4 percent. That’s almost triple the rate from 1990, when the Minnesota-based insurance giant UnitedHealth Group issued its first version of this report” (Landers). But schools should also have a role in combating this epidemic. In order for students to be healthier students should be taught about the health problems that stem from bad eating, proper methods of being healthy, and how exactly the ingredients in junk food affect the body.…
