Should Nuclear energy be the primary source of electricity around the world? This has been a much debated topic for years. Though there are several countries that have taken the step to use nuclear energy, many haven’t including Australia. There are many positives, including the fact that Nuclear energy is clean and it also reduces Co2 that is released by fossil fuel, the nuclear reactors cost relatively low to operate and nuclear energy can save many lives in the long run. There are also many negatives regarding this issue, including the disasters that could be created if there were to be an accident, the threat of nuclear weapons and the radioactive waste.

1 kg of uranium can produce 50 kWh of electrical energy compared to coal, which can only produce 3 kWh of electrical energy.
To conclude, I think that we can’t risk the lives of the people around the world and that we should use Nuclear energy to make the earth a safe and a clean place.
Nuclear energy could be clean and safe for the environment, but it isn’t worth risking the lives of so many people if there were to be an accident or a disaster similar to the one in Japan that took place in early 2011. The Fukushima power plant released uncontrolled radiations of nuclear radiations into the environment which was triggered by an earthquake and a tsunami that took place a couple of days before this event. The nuclear disaster in Chernobyl, Ukraine, April 26, 1986 killed more than 4,000 people and there were 56 direct deaths, mostly workers of the power plant.
Currently there are more than two countries that own a number of nuclear weapons. If there was to be a war between these two countries and their alliances, there would be major destruction in these countries and many lives would be lost because of the nuclear weapons. The power of the nuclear weapons could cause thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of
