First, we have to ask ourselves what is nuclear energy? …show more content…
Nuclear energy produces zero pollution emissions such as greenhouse gasses. Each one of these plants can produce massive amounts of energy, and has an extremely low running cost due to how little uranium they need. With the new plants being built they have added safety measures both internal and external so that if something happens that there won’t be leaks of radiation. If something does go bad in a nuclear plant it is nothing like how it is portrayed in the media, these facilities couldn’t possible explode like a bomb. Nuclear waste at the moment is being stored underground to live out its half-life, but currently scientists are finding new ways to use the uranium bi-products in other things so it’s not radiating the ground. On the other side to start up these nuclear plants it takes a lot of time 10 years plus and it takes a lot of money. Working or being near one of these plants can possibly give you cancer, which is false; these plants are designed to retain the radiation the amount of radiation your body absorbs when being in the facility is a tenth of what you would receive from getting an x-ray. Nuclear power reactors release radioactivity into the air and water being pumped through the system, which is also false; again the plants are designed specifically not to allow for the release of radioactivity out into nature. On the opposition there is a lot of talk about nuclear plants being blown up or due to malfunction blowing up, but in reality these plants can’t and don’t blow up. There is nothing in these plants that is explosive that could potentially lead to an explosion. Mining and refining Uranium is not very clean, and
