Have you ever thought of who created the flowers beauty? Have you ever stopped and looked at the sun setting and see the marvelous colors presented in the sky? Have you ever wondered who creates beautiful pictures like that everyday? Have you ever stopped to think about who makes the sun rise and set, day after day? In my day to day life, I think about these things all the time. Let 's take a butterfly for as an example. A butterfly isn 't a butterfly at first, but is rather a caterpillar that hatches from an egg. As the caterpillar grows, it then makes a protective casing called a chrysalis. During its time in the chrysalis, the caterpillar changes and eventually comes out as a beautiful butterfly. Now how can one explain this without saying God created this amazing phenomenon? It is because of Gods grace that turns this caterpillar into an amazing butterfly. So it God cares about this little bug, then why wouldn 't he care for the plants and other animals on this earth? When looking at the beauty all around me, I think, "How do people choose to believe that God didn 't create every little detail on this earth? How do people think everything around them was created by "the Big Bang""? If God can create the wonders of nature, and he cares about a little sparrow, worth not even a penny falling from a tree, then why wouldn 't he care for us? God cares for every living thing, from the small sparrows, to us. He knows …show more content…
In John 16:33, God states "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." This scripture reminds me everyday that yes there is pain and suffering, but God is in control of everything. I believe that God gives us pain and suffering to help us build our faith in him. He wants to push our strength and our faith in him. He wants us to know that he is in control of everything and he is there to make everything better. Unfortunately, the world has to have pain and suffering, so that everyone will know that evil can be overcome. The only way anyone will ever overcome evil, is putting their faith in God. The bible states the phrase "do not be afraid" 365 times. This is a daily reminder to me that God is in charge of my life and he wants me to live my life being fearless because he will take care of everything. In Philippians 4:19 ESV, it states "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." This makes me realize that God will take care of everything and that I do not need to worry of be

Similarly, Paul, in Philippians 1:27-30, shifts from his personal example of suffering to the Philippians present and future certainty of suffering. In this, he calls them to be united and stand firm in the face of adversity and suffering for the gospel through the Spirit – living as “ones worthy of the gospel”…

Suffering has a way of helping us identify who we are in Christ. We can walk in other people’s moccasins after walking in our pain and discovering the victory in the Lord. “I believe no one can preach well who has not experienced deep pain.” (p. 252) Pain, from whatever the sources, is a learning tool for us and for us to help others. The struggles within the church can become a powerful tool in the healing of many wounds. A healing church is one who recognizes their total dependency on Christ and extends that love and acceptance to all who come through their doors.…

Growing up, I never questioned the existence of God because church was all I knew. My older sister and I spent countless hours with my grandmother at church helping in any way that we knew how and we never missed a service; in those services I heard testimonies of so many men and women who knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that no one other than God moved in a miraculous way in their lives and I just knew he had to be real. Not until I…

I ask God why bad things happen. A failed relationship, and damaged friendship, it feels bleak, and purposeless, pain without purpose the goal is to escape the situation, run from the discomfort. Then I read the story of Joni, a woman who broke her back in a diving accident, causing her to become quadriplegic. Joni states, “All too often we want to erase suffering out of the Christians dictionary… Maybe it gives me credence when I speak from this wheelchair about the sufficiency of God and His word and His grace” (Smith, & Stonestreet, p. 152, 2015). Regardless of how bleak the present may seem, God has a plan for everything, and there is no aspect of my life that His grace will not sustain me. This story reminded me to be grateful in all circumstances, and to find joy in the places the Lord has placed me, even when it is difficult to…

The author’s purpose for writing The Problem of Pain is to show that just because there is evil and suffering the world does not mean that God ceases to be God; that Divine Good does not exist, or that He ceases to be an all-knowing, all-loving, and all-powerful God. The author’s purpose for writing chapter three, on Divine Goodness, is to explain that love and kindness are not synonymous, and just because they are not does not mean that God does not love humans. To love someone well does not mean only wanting their happiness, but sometimes means going through suffering with them and loving them through hard truths.…

The Bible stresses the importance of how these things can play a role in personal well being. Dees (2011) states, “God can use the pain and suffering to stimulate a new spiritual normal that not only allows us to bounce, but to bounce even higher in the Lord that we ever thought (p. 145). God uses the suffering individuals may be going through to build both resilience and strength. Glenn (2014) states, “True lament helps us to remember that suffering the deepest pain and agony, even complete despair, is part of our human life and part of the life of Christ to whom we turn for succor” (p.…

The Jewish religion is considered monotheistic. They believed that believing in more than one God would cause a person to have loyalties that were separated. For a person to be able to understand the full meaning of God one must understand two things. First, a person must realize that another human being did not bring them into this world. They must understand that someone higher than them, such as the God, only has the ability to create life. The second reason a person must understand is that in some situations a persons control can be limited. This can include anything from a bad storm that sweeps in and destroys one’s house or a piece of furniture that one may not be strong enough to move. A person must realize and accept that they cannot complete every task in this world, because only one person can do that, God. The ultimate goal of the Jewish religion, meaning of God, was not to be monotheistic but to explain the ultimate importance of the character of their God being understood as one. Their God is considered for being a God of righteousness and God of love and one who demonstrates his loving compassions and blessing in everything he…

People believe in god for many different reasons. Some believe that there is a greater power, some need an explanation to what life holds after death, and some just need answers for the things we cannot explain. "Pascal assumes that there are just two options for wagering: either believe in the God of Christianity, or don't. But those aren't the only options. There are lots of religions with rival accounts of who God is, how to serve him, and what happens in the afterlife.” I believe this is the strongest objection because when given too many options, one does not know which one to choose. Also, believing only in the God of Christianity does not exponentially become the best option because the other religions would have more to offer and another way of reaching eternal happiness.…

In the final chapter, Yancey summarizes pain’s place in our world: “…a pain system that, even in the midst of a fallen world, still bears the stamp of his genius and equips us for life on this planet” (278). God designed pain, despite its tendency to produce suffering, to “equip us for life” and the trials that come along with it. Additionally, God stands beside us in the midst of our struggle because “He has dignified for all time those who suffer, by sharing their pain” (279). Also, He uses people to come into our lives to suppress pain: “He is with us now, ministering to us through his Spirit in through members of his body who are commissioned to bear us up and relieve our suffering for the sake of the head” (279). God sent His son, Jesus, to live on Earth, meaning that He would experience all the pain a human being suffers. Therefore, He can relate and “share” our pain because He understands the adversity we face. God also places people in our lives to help diminish hardship for the good of His kingdom. All in all, God comforts us in our distress through His Spirit and through the love of…

Many people would rather be atheist and believe that there is no God, rather than believing in a malevolent or neglectful God (1). Different religious groups believe their God to be of varying temperaments, the bible is interpreted in different ways which leads to this differing of opinion, Christianity follows the belief of an all knowing, all loving, and just God (2). The existence of suffering can coexist with the idea of a loving God, despite popular belief (1). Suffering is a necessary part of Gods creation; he created suffering to help us learn the immensely valuable lessons that have been mentioned above, it is described commonly as ‘tough love’ (1). It is important that believers trust God, this will allow them to cope with suffering, (4) if their trust begins to waver then their whole belief system is in jeopardy of collapsing. This trust for God and His Word is the key to enduring all suffering that a person may encounter (4). The trials that we encounter throughout our lives can force us to reconsider and revaluate our relationship with God (4). The book of Job demonstrates clearly the potential of suffering to bring a believer closer to their God, although it can also drive many people away (2). This is why we need to properly address the topic of suffering throughout our lives and encourage people to discuss the topic; if people do not clearly understand the role of God in suffering then they may likely share the common view that God has forsaken them and they cannot understand why. With this education on suffering it is important to continue to seek God’s counsel often and talk with him and His followers about our views on suffering and whether we are struggling with suffering of our own (6). The topic of why God does not intervene is a prominent one in many texts; there are the theories on whether…
