If workers are already being paid at minimum wage then having them pay for additional items brings their pay below minimum wage. In fast food restaurants there are often workers who are supporting families through their fast food jobs. But, it is almost impossible to live off of minimum wage especially when you are supporting a family! Many workers are going through this struggle:

This quote from the article “PRO/CON: Should workers in fast-food restaurants make more money?” contributes to the idea that workers can not support a family on just $7.25 and hour! These employees who are earning this bare minimum should not be put under the pressure of supporting a family with a job that pays less than minimum wage. As time progressed in American history minimum wage continued to increase. Minimum wage continued to increase to fit our growing economy that growing economy is still growing. As things become better quality it takes more money to keep these privileges:
