The stigma placed on mental illness among teenagers needs to be addressed. Words like “freak” and “psycho” are too often thrown around when issues of mental illness comes up. Many students are often bullied from their mental illnesses when they start to come forward to people by being told they are attention seekers. School systems need to step up and talk more about how these illnesses are real and valid issues.
