For a crew of astronauts to make a landing on Mars, will undoubtedly cost a substantial amount. In the past 50 years, there have been other opportunities in space exploration that are proven to be successful, such as going to the moon a second time, or launching another telescope into space that will not cost NASA nearly as much as a trip to Mars. SPACE.com says "Landing a crew on Mars will require many costly improvements in spacecraft and other technology," most likely this technology needs to be created rightfully so in order to be successful in a exploration. Many people are extremely ardent about such an idea because it is believed that Mars has water sources. Advocates for such a mission only think that Mars has water in the form of ice. If this is true it could potentially help our world, but sending astronauts up is too much of a treacherous idea, that not many have truly wrapped their minds
