Persuasive Essay On Mandatory Military Service

Mandatory Military Service Some countries from all around the world require their citizens to be in the military for at least two years. But should the US require a two year mandatory military service? The United States has one of the largest countries in the world in terms of landmass, population, and even its economy. The US should not be one of the countries that require a two year mandatory military service because of its high population, it would increase the national debt, and it violates the free will of its people. The countries that typically require a military service for its citizens are smaller and poorer countries such as Columbia, and Bermuda. They only require a military service because their country has a small population, and/or that country does not have the funding to keep a well regulated militia without the required military service. The United States has neither of these problems. The US has a very strong economy and a population that can support its military without the required military service. The United States has one of the largest populations in the world. Because of the United State’s population, a two year requirement for the military would cause the military to spend more money on equipment and training. The United States has a higher population than most countries have which means that it doesn’t need mandatory military service for it’s citizens because there already is a large amount of people joining the military willingly. The cost of a mandatory military service would increase the country's national debt tremendously.
