In New York state, a young teen killed a four year-old by dropping “two large rocks on Derrick's head, which were determined to be the young boy's cause of death” (Mauro). The teen’s homicidal actions resulted in a nine-year prison sentence. Almost a ditto to Piggy’s death, the four year-old boy was eliminated by stones. Most would agree that an almost a clone of a crime deserves the same consequence. Roger might have had a violent past which the teen experienced, but that is no excuse. Regardless of any past experiences or trauma, Roger’s careless actions resulted in Piggy’s mutilation. He is responsible for the death of another human being, and by definition, qualifies his action to be a homicide. If he were to appear in front of a jury today, he would be convicted and sent away. It is possible that the jury may convict him of manslaughter, but that is still a form of murder that some have been sent away
