Persuasive Essay On Legalizing Marijuana

Legalizing marijuana has been a topic of discussion in British Colombia for a long time now. Abundance of marijuana found in the region is due to the habitable climate, making cannabis very accessible. With the market in B.C. having an estimated worth of around $6 billion CAD annually, and many new arguments saying that the health side affects of marijuana are less harmful than tobacco or even alcohol, people are question why cannabis is still illegal. Legalizing marijuana would make it more accessible to the public and although it may not be as harmful as other legal substances like tobacco or alcohol it can still have a negative impact on the mental, and physical health of users. This paper will argue that legalizing marijuana in British Columbia will add to the harmful substances already in place that endanger the health of the public, while also encouraging new users who will be tempted by accessibility and lack of repercussions.
