When the question “Do you think the use of marijuana should be made legal, or not?” (Gallup.com May 2. 2017) was put into place in 1969, only 12% of Americans were for it. Fast forward to 2016, asking the same question, 58% of Americans are in favor of marijuana being legal for recreational use. This leading to the assumption that most people are for marijuana being legalized, rather that apposed of it. “In contrast, 67% of Americans aged 18 to 29 back legalization,” (For First Time, Americans Favor Legalizing Marijuana). From the age of 18-29 and even 30-64 marijuana is backed for being legalized, the only people still hanging their heads over the topic is the older generation. They grew up around the use of marijuana being a terrible thing, therefore will not change their opinion on the drug. It is time for the most recent generations to take a stand and make it
