Marijuana People have been perceiving marijuana in a positive light a lot lately. Society’s perception of marijuana has changed over time for the better. Marijuana has had a long history in the United States as being a hardcore drug which is ridiculous. It has been compared to drugs like cocaine, heroin, and meth. It has been better though over the past ten years and has made a lot of progress. It has been legalized in quite a bit of places and for good reason. With the high potency of marijuana, it has become a better “drug” for the people that use it. Marijuana will always be used whether it is for the good reasons or the bad. Barack Obama says “the exorbitant cost of incarceration is one factor causing states to decriminalize cannabis …” (Where Is Marijuana Par 6) This is one main point in the argument that goes for legalizing pot. Marijuana is now legal in Colorado because of Mason Tvert. Marijuana was voted on in Colorado and won by a majority of 55 percent. The legalization rate now is at an all time high of 69 percent. The legalization of marijuana has caused twenty three states and The District of Columbia to legalize it. Over twelve states are looking to legalize medicinal use of marijuana also. There are four states with legal recreational use of marijuana. They are Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. There are twenty four states with legal medical marijuana. They are Alaska, Arizona.
