The legalization of marijuana has been discussed repeatedly over and over for the past couple of years across the United States. What is known to be a harmless Hemp plant has consumed the lives of many with its high utilization of recreational smoking. Although some may be blinded by the clever grasp of THC, this drug can bring more harm than expected. The infamous “Pot” better known as Marijuana, should only be legalized in Texas for medical purposes and not permitted for recreational use.

Those who regularly smoke pot have low functioning immune systems which prohibits their body from being able to fight off certain illnesses. Abnormality in certain cells can also be acquired from weed, as well as many lung complications. As claimed by the National Institute of Drug Abuse “Marijuana smoke irritates the lungs, and frequent marijuana smokers can have the same breathing problems that tobacco smokers have. These problems include daily cough and phlegm, more frequent lung illness, and a higher risk of lung infections.” Many pot smokers ignore the harm they bring onto others while smoking a so called “blunt”. Those who are inhaling the harsh chemicals from the smoke are very vulnerable to secondhand smoking.
