Persuasive Essay On Junk Food Tax

Junk Food Tax Soda is extremely unhealthy for everybody, it is so unhealthy Cook County, Illinois put a tax on soda. About two months after Cook County’s soda tax went into effect the county decided to repeal the tax. The tax had many legal challenges as well as implementation glitches and a multimillion-dollar media battle with the soda industry and public health. Soda should be taxed and more unhealthy items should be taxed as well. The United States Government should consider turning junk food into a sin tax because the people as a whole are throwing away healthy decisions. Some might say soda and junk food do not need a higher tax and that it should stay at the sales tax price and there are too many taxes on other things in the US. Soda and other unhealthy items need to be taxed and the prices should be raised dramatically. If the prices of healthy food was to be lowered people might buy the more healthy items than the unhealthy choices. Some might say that poor families go the store and pick up cheap junk food just for fillers instead of actual food.
