IDs are being enforced because of the multiple school shootings across America. For example, The Columbine was a serious shooting, so was Sandy Hook, and Virginia Tech. These were some of the worst, but they were all by students, and/or former students. So they would’ve already had the stuff they needed to get in the school, without being noticed as a threat. So not only is this not stopping anything, but it is a waste of money. Having to renew IDs every single year, instead of permanent ideas, is wasting precious money that could be used on educational purposes. Most of the shootings are by former students, so they will already know the school’s procedures and times. They know all the exits, and all of the entrances, they know the school, and know what they’re doing. Some of the kids might actually still go to the school, and already have an ID to get in. All they have to do is put a weapon in their backpack and ask to go to the bathroom, easy as that. Unless we have metal detectors and the doors, nobody will know a thing. If the person really wants to get in the school, they’ll find a way to do it. No matter what we do they will find a way, so unless we find permanent solutions, there is no use trying with the
