Persuasive Essay On Halloween Candy

600 million pounds of candy are bought every year for Halloween, which totals up to a whopping 1.9 billion dollars. Kids around the world are enjoying the fun of it yearly, which is great in my opinion. Even though nearly everyone loves Halloween, there are still some flaws I’ve seen while trick or treating, or in the news. Whether it is wasting candy, lacing it with drugs, or unenthusiastic people, I think we need to change it. If I could change something in the world, it would be the way we give out and eat candy for Halloween. The first imperfection I want to mention is the way some kids use their Halloween candy. 20% of kids say that they eat all their Halloween treats. This made me wonder, what do the other 80% do with their candy? The sad answer to it is most of the time it is thrown away or left somewhere unknown, wasted and never to be eaten. Though this is the case for most, some actually decide to use the uneaten Halloween candy in a positive way and donate it to food banks and charities, which is something I believe we all should do once in awhile. If you aren’t going to eat, …show more content…
It makes me extremely sad to see people doing this for no good reason at all. Poisoned candy is still widely mentioned in the news during the time of Halloween in 2016. In the news you can still constantly find articles with people lacing candy with drugs, and I find this horrible, and I strongly believe that something must be done to stop this. That’s why I will create a micro robot fitted with multiple devices and sensors, including an x-ray scanner. Included within the robot, you will find a device that can distinguish multiple threats in the candy. It can be compared to a guard dog’s nose, in the way it has superior sniffing abilities to find threats. I believe this invention can help save kids from having to go to the ER and crack down on these bad

On April 28, 1992, Chris McCandless stepped foot into the woods, a journey that would last four months, coming to an end much earlier than he would’ve hoped. In August of 1992, just four months after Chris walked alone into the wild, his perishing body was found by a party of moose hunters. Chris went into the wild hoping to get away from corrupt society and to live a transcendentalist lifestyle. His bold journey was going well until he made a silly mistake when he came across seeds from the wild potato. In the poem, “Halloween in the Anthropocene, 2015” by Craig Santos Perez, theme is developed through uses of cynical imagery, critical personification, and gloomy symbols. The main idea is that we have all caused problems on the Earth, as Craig indirectly states, all from our own greed. Many examples were provided that help support this idea. Although Halloween is generally a pretty- well it’s supposed to be scary, but while most kids find the fun in it, other children all around the world are suffering for our own enjoyment.…

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all of the wonderful people in one’s life. Thanksgiving shouldn’t be ephemeral because it’s a long celebration with loved ones surrounding you. Before every meal, my grandfather prays no malice upon us for the rest of our lives. For that moment in time, it feels as if God is rinsing the evil away because of my grandpa’s prayer. The feast isn’t opulence but that doesn’t matter because we don’t need luxurious things.…

The best place to smoke is definitely the bathroom with an open window. First thing you need to do is make a sploof out of a Coke bottle, not a paper towel roll. Buy the charcoal filters from Pet Smart that usually go in fish tanks. Shove this down the bottom of the Coke bottle and fill the rest of it with drier sheets, then poke about four holes at the bottom for the exhaled smoke to travel through. I recommend Coke bottles because their bottles are a thicker plastic than most water bottles.…

Do you think students should have their full week off for Thanksgiving? Well I know I do and my plan is in this essay is to show you why we should have our full weekend for Thanksgiving. My first reason is we shouldn't because if you take Monday and Tuesday you mess up family's that have planned to go somewhere they can't and they have to cancel and the bad part is those family's might not get their money back. And my lead to this is one day in fourth grade we had 30 students and like fifteen checked out on a day that was a Student/Staff holiday because we used our last snow day.…

“If you want to order two cups at the same time, that’s fine, it 's your choice. We are not taking away anybody 's right to do things, we are simply forcing you to understand.” If these words about the New York Soda Ban, from Mayor Bloomberg himself, are true, then what exactly was the point of making it? You see, although the intentions of the act are well-placed and well-founded, I have to disagree with the idea of the soda ban in its entirety. I’m not saying nothing should be done for the problem of obesity, as it is a proven and significant problem for the people of not just New York, but people all around the world.…
