Persuasive Essay On Guns In America

Humans invented guns for other humans of all races and genders to be able to protect themselves. A gun is a firearm which the shooter loads shells, if a shotgun, or cartridges, if a rifle or pistol, into. When one pulls the trigger of a firearm, the hammer is released, hitting the primer on the shell or cartridge. The struck primer creates a micro sized spark, igniting the gunpowder, sending a deadly piece of lead, or other material, flying. Without guns and the proper ammunition to be used, America would have never gotten its chance to be a free country with amendments like the Second, allowing citizens to own guns, or the First, allowing people to write papers which can argue someone’s own opinion. Mr. Dewey tells in his paper that, “Incidents of gun violence on campuses date back more than two centuries. Reports of shootings on campuses during the eighteenth and nineteenth century most often involved disturbed teachers turning guns on unruly students” (Dewey). Though shootings as long as two centuries ago involved teachers and professors firing shots at the misbehaving students, shootings of the twenty-first century usually involve a former or current student returning to his or her hated place. The majority of gun violence at schools could have been prevented or stopped sooner with armed and trained teachers on campus. Campuses can install metal detectors and better surveillance systems, including higher focusing cameras and possibly hidden microphones, to have a better knowledge of what is going on in the classrooms and halls. However, these devices will not prevent a shooter from opening fire. Considering teachers are around children as much or more as the child’s parents, they need to be trained and ready to be armed at any given
