Kids now fear that their light up shoes will allow a school shooter to find them easier or that if they say that wrong thing to someone, not meaning to hurt them, they will end up on someone’s list of people to kill. In my opinion guns/firearms are too easily obtained and I think this, because guardians do not keep guns properly contained and away from minors, dueto private sellers there is no background check or record of the gun, and even with the Brady background check it does not take mental illnesses into consideration. 1 out of 3 homes with children have guns. Some of these kids even kill themselves or try to. 2,737 kids die from a gun, 1,606 are murdered and 985 are suicides, in my opinion that is 2,737 too many. There is no telling how many guns are sold through private sellers without a background check on the person and how many are not registered. It is also easy to buy a gun through a private seller at a gun show because many states do not require background checks. Let’s say that this person went to jail for violence or even killing someone. That person is able to walk around without anyone knowing what they have done. If a background check is never done, how could the person who sold them the gun know these things? The Brady background check takes your information and looks to see if you have acriminal record. The thing it does not tell you, is if someone has a mental illness such as depression, schizophrenia, etc. not only does that put other people at risk but the person who bought the gun may be at risk. It makes it easy for someone to buy a gun and kill themselves or someone having intrusive thoughts to kill
