There are a massive number of semi-automatic weapons in the hands of criminals and citizens, which create a threat to national and law enforcement authority, and many deceptive practices. Some of these weapons are very similar to military weapons. Countries like united states are in a dangerous situation unless the government takes an action to ban them. If we get rid of these semi-automated weapons crime rates would go down a lot.
To start with, semi-automatic weapon owners engaging in self-defense are taking the law into their own hands, only the military and police forces have that right. And the weapons of choice for drug dealers, and gang members these days are semi-automated handguns, which they are getting illegally. So, banning semi-automated weapons will result in control of crime scenes. In many cases of youth gun violence, they are using multiple weapons, including semi-automated guns and rifles. These guns are purchased legally and are often obtained from family members. In a review of mass shootings in the US, from 62 mass shootings happened during a 30-year period from which 68 semi-automatic handguns and 35 assault weapons were discovered. The only possible way to prevent this is by implementing sensible gun laws. Some people believe that they need guns for self-defense to protect them from assault, rape or murder. A recent study showed that people carrying a gun for self-defense are more likely to be shot during an assault, than an assault victim without a gun. Gun control laws will not prevent criminals from breaking laws or obtaining semi-automatic weapons. Hence, I strongly feel that banning semi-automatic weapons is a right
