When people say “Freshman 15” you think of the weight gain and the causes of it. There are multiple factors of the freshman 15 such as stress, no access to healthy options, little time to cook. There are many ways to not let this happen to you as managing your time and making sure you are eating correctly and in the gym a couple times a week. The freshman 15 is something that can be prevented by the persons’ awareness of how it occurs and what to do to not let it become a bigger issue than it already is. The first major factor for the weight gain in freshman is unhealthy eating and little access to healthier options. Eating on campus can be very unhealthy for you, such as Johnny Rockets, Jamba Juice and Chick-fil-A. Some of these places have better options such as a salad rather than a fried chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A. Instead you have a meal plan card, and you could go to Twenty-Something and do some grocery shopping. Twenty-Something has yogurt, fresh fruit, low fat cereals that you can buy instead of going to …show more content…
For instance if you are the person to being drink or eat it can be very unhealthy because you will feel sorry for yourself and you think that drinking alcohol or eating unhealthy foods may comfort you but that is not true. The transition from high school to college can be stressful as well because you do not have nearly as much homework and do not come home to meals that your parents have prepared. A basic day of a college student is either class in the morning or afternoon, a job if they have one and homework, social hour and sleep. Our schedules are very busy so not doing this before may put stress on the student and not have time to workout or eat correctly (Boyce & Kuiger 2015). What helps keeps the mind off the busy schedule and keeps freshman busy is intramurals. They are great because you can make new healthy relationships and keeps you active during the school
