I have such a desire for my students to feel comfortable not only with me, but with their peers. I know this will happen through me creating a safe space for all of my students. Piaget describes this concept that “the classroom should have as much physical, intellectual, and emotional safety as possible so that people can learn, get their work done, not be distracted, build relationships, and try out new and difficult behaviors and thoughts” (Safe Space). In order to create and follow through with this, I will need to allocate extra time in order to allow my classes to achieve further learning when needed. Whether this imply staying later, arriving to school earlier, dedicating my lunch break to assisting students, I will make it clear to my students that I am doing everything in my power to help them succeed and they will need to take responsibility for their education. In my own experience through after school instruction with my teachers or having lunch with them, I know that that is where the creation of my informal relationships began with my educators. I was able to feel more comfortable with them, and they were able to understand more of my background and understand a little more the different cultural habits I brought to the class. Although many of the lessons during my time in high school were not directed towards my specific needs, my teachers tried different teaching styles to ensure all students were able to learn and this is something I plan to apply to my teaching. I will need to plan lessons and activities to be applicable to as many students as possible in my classroom. This is a way students will be able to own their education and enjoy learning rather than unpleasant

I especially want to remember the acronym START. From what I saw in my observations, these characteristics are an effective way to teach students because they allow students to learn in different ways but still obtain the same knowledge. I watched many teachers use a rigorous curriculum and student-centered classroom. However, I want to successfully incorporate all of the characteristics in my future classroom. I want my students to have some control over how they learn by being actively involved in my classroom.…

I am going to have to get control of my classroom, have my students follow my procedures by using positive reinforcement, and reflective learning of my pedagogy. The students in the classroom come from diverse cultures, so it is important that I am able to teach to every standard for every student. Obtaining control of my classroom will result into a good semester by having the students understand my expectations and theirs. My teaching style will have the students motivated to learn and retain the information. I have to have interactive lesson plans that get the students out of their seats and have a hands on approach to what they are learning other than just drill and kill methods.…

The ultimate goal of my classroom management is not to manage control of the class but to ensure that everyone meets my expectations in order for them to learn in an effective and supportive environment but to teach students self-discipline and to understand the rules and consequences of my classroom by acting accordingly. I would feel more comfortable adhering to the tenets of a school adopted classroom management program to start with because it is familiar with what students have been seeing as a school wide concept but then to see what specific classroom related rules I may want to add or have more classroom engagement rules that the students may want to add so that they feel…

When a child does not feel safe in the classroom then learning can possibly decrease. It doesn’t matter if it’s emotionally, physically, or socially. Classroom organization is very important to me because it will create a place where students can learn but most importantly, understand responsibility, create relationships with other students, and learn how to work together with classmates.…

It is up to the instructor to decide how he/she can perform these tasks. These teaching styles are used for students who might need any modifications to their teaching because not every student learns the same exact way. A teacher should always over plan incase certain activities don’t take as long as anticipated. It is always a good idea to have back up plans that could include things you know students need extra work to fill in for the rest of the time. The seventh tip was having a disciplinary plan in the classroom this a major key in classroom management. These plans should be created together as a class so the students feel ownership in what is expected everyday and can be held accountable since each student helped create it. Although in the video it did mention purchasing a classroom amplification system to use when your class is too loud, I would disagree with this.…

I have seen what I don’t want to happen in my classroom and have developed skills to prevent it.…

I do feel that my experience in student teaching has pushed me into becoming a more reliable person. Many times, during my student teaching, I was prompted by teachers to perform easy actions such as reading a book to a class or teaching a whole lesson or unit. Being that my mentor teacher is the one giving me my job, I feel more inclined to perform just about anything she asks. With that type of mentality, I dedicated myself to becoming anything that I teacher needed me to be. I face challenges at school in a more internalized way now.…
