One year of tuition at Princeton university is equal to roughly about Thirty seven thousand dollars. Now the cost of staying at New Jersey state prison is around roughly forty four thousand dollars. One year of flogging? for those fortunate enough to learn their lesson from it; only about a month 's worth of public embarrassment.
Prison and going to university are just about the two most different path an individual person could take. In school, one can learn many things and just exponentially grow as a member of society, it is a place where one can increase their yearly earning potential. School is the place where one goes to live, learn and grow, it is a place where one goes to continue with their dreams and aspirations. Of course it is harsh, but is it not sending someone to prison where they could be killed, raped, or worse, just because they had some weed on them, or because they stole something? is it not ruining a life more than any flogging ever would. What we have here is the potential to be able to give people a second chance from a stupid mistake they may have made. Flogging will be a lesson that person has to learn in order to set them in to the right path, where they can begin anew and flourish as a better person than they were yesterday.
Now that we understand why we should allow flogging, and its potential to better out country and not only that to better our future. We have to understand that with flogging comes a great deal of interpretation; who should be flogged, how should they be flogged, and why.
