Discipline level has dropped by a ton in the last few years in school. Trouble at home due to the economic situation or other social and health reasons causes many children to drift around in a young age with a lack of upbringing and a general knowledge of what is right and what is wrong. These issues continue to school and unfortunately are spreading. A citizen from Jamaica described this problem in a newspaper article by saying: “These are mainly persons who had no fear of teachers or parents and were allowed to do as they pleased. Flogging is the element that was used to instil discipline in children, hence a more civil society” (Blackstock. 2012). That is why the discipline part from flogging is needed. The idea of using flogging for effective discipline goes back to the start of the Bible and the Hebrew Bible mention that punishment to bring discipline is not wrong. “Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him. (Bible Proverbs 13:24). And the Hebrew Bible: “Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father” (Hebrew Bible 12:7).
