Fight for Freedom “Our nation was founded on a bedrock principle that we are all created equal” (Korte). This was said by Obama after the Supreme Court ruled that states cannot ban same-sex marriage. This statement proves that America was built based on a constitution that characterized everybody as equal with no man better than another. This rejects discrimination against any person based on their religion, race, or other things such as sexuality. The United States has fought to protect the rights of those who have been discriminated against, and same-sex couples have had their fight for freedom, too. Although some say that marriage is between a male and female, homosexual couples should be allowed the right to marry; the recent law prohibiting states from banning same-sex marriage protects homosexuals’ rights to equality, marriage, and free expression.
