Ironically, the show is a cartoon which obviously attracts younger children. The pathos rhetorical strategy is being used by making it a cartoon because it draws in younger kids. Since the horrific show contains adult content being displayed in a cartoon, it draws in the attention of older and younger people causing the ratings and views to increase. Unfortunately, with an abundance of viewers Family Guy does not care who they offend. Antonia Peacocke states, “Family Guy… purposely offend just about every group of people you could name” (300). Basically, Peacocke is saying that the abhorrent show is fully aware of the offensive jokes told and still continue on with them. It is extremely unsettling that a cartoon teaches the younger generations, as well as adults, crude humor in which belittles another person mainly based off appearance. For example, the daughter Meg is continuously being criticized of her weight and looks. She is constantly being told she is overweight and unattractive. No person should be belittled based on outward appearance. To allow children to engage in a show that demonstrates such behavior is unacceptable.
