African Americans have never been seen as equals in the United States. This, however, began to change in the late 1860’s, when the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments were passed (The Civil War Amendments). These are known as the Civil War Amendments. These three additions to the Constitution were designed to ensure equality for recently emancipated slaves (The Civil War Amendments). With these new laws came anger from innumerable Americans. Many still felt that African Americans weren't equal to them. Those of color had to face beatings, bombings, and assassinations from enraged Whites. Despite all the legal actions taken, the abiding racial problem was still not directly addressed. Now, in the 21st century, our country still has no adequate solution to racial controversy. Trump is seen as a “a racist, a misogynist, an authoritarian, and a narcissist” by a copious amount of people (Chris Kirk). Even Clinton’s fellow democrats describe her as a liar, dishonest, two-faced, and a criminal (Benny Johnson). While each candidate has more flaws than strengths, one of the two must become our next president. If Trump becomes our next POTUS many will worry about things such as women’s rights getting revoked or foreigners being deported, but if Clinton comes into office people will be concerned that she is lying to our country and hiding things from the citizens of the US. We deserve to have a president that we can trust, and I am fairly certain that for the next four years our country will not have
