Persuasive Essay On Embryos

Improved Essays
When I started to think of embryo research and how I felt about it I began to feel unsure. I am unsure if I am against embryo research, but I am against destroying an embryo. I do feel doing researching on embryo’s could be beneficial for possible medical advantages, medical treatments for disorders such as down-syndrome and could help teach us to understand why doing embryo research could be a benefit. Though there are benefits to embryo research I am fully against destroying them. Though embryos are not a human life, yet it can be. There is a chance for life, which to me makes them have moral value. Though an embryo doesn’t have memories or life experiences or feel pain doesn’t mean it doesn’t have value or importance. Its been said that embryos don’t feel pain, but how can we know for sure. Though they may not feel physical pain or psychological pain doesn’t make it right to destroy them. Embryos can have a value to life. …show more content…
An embryo forms a life. I was once an embryo and if my parents decided to get rid of me I wouldn’t be here. They felt I had value and importance because I became an important life to them. I became a daughter, sister, granddaughter, etc. If my parents didn’t see the moral value in their embryo I wouldn’t be here. To those parents that can’t have children an embryo is of great value to them. When thinking about the possibility of destroying an embryo what comes to mind are those families that are in need of them. Instead of getting rid of the embryos they should be given to families in need of them. It should be given to families that want a child and who can support a future

Imagine this; a world where no one has lifelong infections or medical conditions. This might be made possible soon; however, some are afraid that parents will take it too far. With enough money, they could transform their babies to be intelligent and good looking. In my opinion, genetic engineering should be allowed, but restrictions should be in place to stop parents from making super babies. Genetic engineering is the purposeful changing of an organism's DNA.…

In fact, they think it is a better option for children and their parents. They can choose an embryo that is not going to be affected by a certain gene and then their child will not have a specific disease, but that does not make up for the fact that one of the embryos just gets thrown away. Also when someone changes the genes to avoid a disease there is always a possibility that the gene pools gets messed up. Overall, there are more cons in the situation than pros and “designer babies” are not worth the risk. Some people are not able to have children for medical reasons so they have to look into In Vitro Fertilization for further help, but “designer babies” are going farther than that.…

Because people tend to take advantage of technology to fulfill their desires at large, one way to reduce overwhelming outcomes is to establish rules. In Belkin’s essay, she raised a question of how to maintain a balance between what’s rights and what’s ethical, “Ethicists think in terms of a slippery slope. But is the potential for abuse in some circumstances reason not to pursue research that can be lifesaving under the right circumstances” (Belkin 7). Ethic is a hard line to draw especially when people view from different aspects. It might seem reasonable for Henry and Molly’s parents to manipulate their reproduction to save their kids life.…

Instead of creating clones that have to experience the effects of the imperfections, scientists should focus more on improving the lives of people by using other ways that does not include ethics or does not cause harm to others. These scientists are making the clones suffer through unneeded complications. Head states in the article, “Should human cloning be banned?”, “Scientists generally agree that it would be irresponsible to clone a human being until cloning has been perfected, given that the cloned human would probably face serious, and ultimately terminal, health issues.” It is impetuous for scientists to continue cloning because the babies that were made are alive and have their own feelings. They should not be forced to live with health issues their entire life because of our imperfect experiments. Scientists only want to create clones in order to have better organ donors.…

This is a key idea of embryonic stem cell research, these embryos would not be given birth to anyway, even if they had not been in vitro fertilized, if the parents want to donate the embryo for research purposed, chances are that they would have aborted their embryo even if they had not given it to research labs. Looking at the argument from a new angle, one may ask if these embryos should be given birth to. If they are given birth to, the world’s food supplies would have to be divided amongst many more humans. On top of going through malnutrition, these humans would suffer of the world’s overpopulation which would help spread illnesses much faster and kill many more humans. Therefore, as these new humans should have to live in a world where food is…

Do not end a child’s life because the person is scared. At least have the baby and put it up for adoption. I do not know much I can stress that. I mean it is their own flesh and blood. So I think the mother should have the baby because she is the one that made that beautiful creation.…

I would not know if the things I like are because of who I really am, or because I have been artificially modified. I can understand that parents want the best for their children, but there are limits. The desire to control life and its outcomes go against the essence of life, and ultimately, against individual freedom and responsible parenting. The simple fact that this technology will become possible in the future to those who want to determine specific aspects of their child’s personality, is scary and unpromising. I would clearly draw a line between the use of this technology for screening embryos that have serious inherited diseases, and its use for nonmedical and frivolous reasons.…

For example, the parents probably are not mature enough to raise the child properly and would owe that to the child. Even if the baby is adopted, chances are that the he or she will be bullied in the future because he or she was adopted. Many studies show that this does happen a good deal with most adopted children. Also, what if the doctors spot a birth defect in the early stages? The parents might owe it to the potential child to not suffer through such a terrible life.…

To be ethical, in terms of biological research and using new biological technologies, means that science should not offend any groups of people by doing something that angers them. To be ethical means to try and satisfy as many groups as possible, and to try and not anger as many groups as possible. Some advancements in biological technology are truly great, but if they are wrong, the public will oppose them and any discovery will not be taken into action. It is vital to always conduct scientific studies in an ethical way. No harm should be done to living things without a purpose.…

    Is Human Cloning Wrong

Human cloning for reproductive and therapeutic methods is a controversial subject and in using and looking the issue of human cloning from the perspective of consequentialism theory, I believe that using the perspective of consequentialism theory will result in human cloning not being morally wrong. One reason using consequentialist theory that human cloning is not wrong is that parental demands of children would not change because the child is a clone, parental demands vary from parent to parent and the same would apply to clones. A second reason why cloning would be okay using the consequentialist theory is the idea that enhancement of human is good for society because it would offer a better state of humanity. A third reason why consequentialist…
