Scientists are encouraging people to start transitioning into a plant based diet. A large amount of the chronic diseases we encounter in our modern day are related to the consumption of meat. Eating a protein based diet increases health risks such as cancer, heart problems, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Meat is helping to kill the population one bite of meat at a time. The animals are being pumped with large doses of GMOs and antibiotics (Allan). All of those growth hormones are still present in the meat we people consume. They are dangerous chemicals and our bodies are not created to ingest them. Same goes for the consumption of dairy products. The cows produce a white substance with a large amount of nutrients and growth hormones in order to help a baby calf grow into a six hundred pound cow. Human children do not need the milk from a cow in order to grow into a one hundred and sixty pound adult, they need the milk produced from their mothers with the exact nutrients to develop and grow normally. However there are problems that occur that keeps slowing down the process if the solution. Meat is the number one protein incorporated in the everyday diet of Americans. Almost every household in the U.S. create their meals around the protein they are cooking. People are raised on meat, fish and chicken …show more content…
Transitioning slowly a little, day by day and trying to find substitutions for different products that are very important in individuals everyday diet. Switching out dairy products such as milk and yogurt with nut based or even soy based products like almond milk or soy yogurt. People need to slowly make small changes in order to keep succeeding as vegans in the long run. Veganism does not only benefit us but the animals that fall victims for slaughter and abuse everyday. Chickens For example are put in tiny cages from an early age and has to spend their whole life in a tiny metal cage only to be let out the day it is time for them to be slaughtered. They sit in the cage and get injected with hormones and antibiotics in order for them to grow faster. The cages are too small for the full grown chickens resulting in the chickens having a hard time moving even an inch. Other chickens are slightly better treated if they are brought up to lay eggs only. But even those chickens are treated horribly all their lives. When the chickens can no longer produce eggs they meet the same cruel fate as the trapped chickens that are only brought up for slaughter. The advantages of becoming vegan is that people do contribute to helping the animals. The less meat we consume, the less animals are needed in order to keep the meateaters of
