Experts predicted a huge earthquake that will have a massive destruction in the Pacific Northwest. Experts did not state when will it hit and how long it will last. However, according to Oregon State professor the magnitude will be between 8.0 and 9.2. Whether or not the earthquake is going to hit sooner or later and how powerful it is going to be. Being prepared could save a lot of lives and could avoid inevitable damages. But the big question is: are Northwesterners prepared when the disastrous earthquake hit the pacific northwest? As a matter of fact, most of the families or the communities does not perform earthquake drills and most of the buildings are not design to be an earthquake resistance. With this reasons, Northwesterners is unprepared for this natural disaster. …show more content…
Practicing earthquake drills should not only be limited to schools, but it should also be practiced in the public places, communities, and at homes. Also, government officials should plan out an earthquake survival plan and informed all the citizens about it. They should have a public forum about having emergency natural disaster preparedness kit at homes and having it mandatory for all people in local communities. Since, not all families have emergency preparedness kit due to lack of financial stability. Maybe the public servants could provide them. Then, teach everyone to have basic knowledge of how to do first aid and CPR can be a life-saver and helpful when the event happen. Lack of government communication to ordinary people is an underlying problem. People should communicate with each other for the safety of everyone. So, when the earthquake happens, we know what we are going to
