Drivers who drive under the influence take many individuals’ lives. If you take the risk to drive drunk, then you should be liable off all actions that you will be accounted for, by which mean take full responsibility of their actions. The reasons they need to take responsibility is they account for a large amount of unsuspected deaths. Just like Zane. Zane was a three-year-old little boy just beginning his life when a drunk driver fatally hit his father, when his family was traveling home. The possibility of an accident increases significantly when a person becomes irresponsible and drives while being intoxicated. “Every year more than 15,000 people were killed in alcohol related accidents.” “While more than 630,000 innocent people were injured based on DUI drivers.” (Mothersagianstdrunkdrivers) These numbers do not lie, and for a fact should present that DUI’s are a major case all around the world. For the most part, even though some drivers are unsure they are under the influence, they should still be penalized and taken off the road. Occasionally some drivers are unsure if they are under the influence, but that is simply not an excuse. There should not be an excuse to take an innocent persons life. As taxes rise for innocent people, drunk drivers need to pay for legislation after being convicted of any alcohol related crime. Many people, including teens just like to consume items without knowing how dangerous it can be towards your body. Towards young drinkers, their body is unsure on how to handle what is being consumed, but their mind is committed that it does. Teenagers death tolls are rising everyday based on alcohol related accidents .Clearly, the numbers do not lie, and we the people need to use our power to stop them, and make the drivers take full responsibility of their actions. The way to stop DUI drivers is to make them think twice, and to accomplish that, the punishments need to be more severe. Punishments now include fines, jail sentence, seizure of their vehicle, rehabilitation, and probation.
