Everyone that has been arrested for drinking and driving must install an ignition interlock device into their car at their own cost. If they do not pass the test the car will not start. This can prevent people from driving drunk from their first offense to their last. MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) are extremely devoted to making a nation where there are zero drunk driving victims. They have two recommendations “interlocks and sobriety checkpoints” (Hickman). Texas has already passed the law that makes installing an ignition interlock device mandatory but doesn’t seem to be moving toward sobriety checkpoints. Currently Texas does not allow sobriety checkpoints because it is considered “illegal under Texas’ interpretation of federal Constitution” (Sobriety). MADD works hard to persuade states to move towards sobriety checkpoints but as of now Texas still does not allow
