California uses approximately 1 trillion gallons of water each year for over 1 million acres of almond trees. Droughts have caused us to use less water, pay more for water, and significantly lowered the levels of our lakes. Droughts are serious problems that can cause hunger and thirst. They can also cause people to leave drought-stricken areas, causing a rapid decrease in population. Droughts should not be ignored and should be solved, reminding us that there are many solutions to the problem such as watering systems, water absorbent substances, and desalination.
First and foremost, watering systems are one way we can attack this problem. These watering systems would be placed under plants, fields of crops, and yards, allowing it to automatically water certain areas.
