When drinking, no matter how much a person may have had, driving home should not be an option. There is no such thing that someone is ‘too good of a driver’ to get into an accident due to their intoxication. There is an easy way to avoid causing disaster to yourself or to someone else, do not drink and drive. There is no justifiable answer or claim to make when a driver has severely injured or even killed someone else, ‘I’m so sorry’ will never fix the damage they have caused. Personally, the most disturbing part to me about that interview was when the teen’s aunt said that her nephew burned to death in the car, while the drunk driver went home like nothing happened and got to rest. When dealing with the loss of a beloved family member, accepting that they will no longer be here is already hard, but it is harder when you understand that they will no longer be here because of someone’s immature choices. This teenager’s family was upset over the fact that their nephew was very talented in soccer and had a bright future ahead of him, but unfortunately his future was taken away from him too early.The first girl who was interviewed about her experience with losing someone due to drunk driving is also a very unfortunate story as well. It is hard to imagine loving someone and planning to have a future with them, only to have that dream be just a dream and nothing more.
