Everyday many people die do to being distracted by something while driving. Distracted driving is very dangerous and can be even lethal to not just you but everyone around you. Distracted driving can cause death or injuries, you're not aware of your surroundings when you are distracted, and it's illegal. While many states made it illegal many people still do it. Even with states, making some distracted driving illegal like texting and driving many drivers still do it. When the DMV did a survey on how many teens text and drive, many did text and drive. “In 2015 42% of teens say they have texted while driving… leading cause of death for teens (DMV).” About half of teens drive while distracted, that's a lot of people not looking where they

have tried to decrease the amount of people that died in distracted related crashes by making it illegal to do some things while driving but people being people, they still will do it. “A majority of states have passed laws to keep up with… increasing in texting and driving (DMV).” If you were to drive somewhere you would most likely see at least one person on their phone while driving. The states can’t do anything if they don’t see drivers driving distracted, they must be caught before the state can give them their punishment. States do have some punishment to remind people that distracted driving is very dangerous. Some states will give you a fine, charge you with criminal charges, take your driving privileges from you, or give you points on your record (legalmatch). However, cars have gotten safer and more advanced to aid us in the road. They can detect when a person is close to the car and stop if they fell the object is to close but they don’t do this all the time. They are not enough to make the road safer. Car can stop when they detect someone, but do we really want to trust a car, what if it doesn’t work. People should just follow the laws and stop being distracted when they
