Have you ever experienced a concussion or known someone who has suffered from a concussion? If so, you probably already know about the rising problem and the dangers of concussions. Most people in the world have ignored concussions and are not aware of the many dangers they cause. Concussions are a rising problem in sports and athletes need to embrace the solutions. Sports are one of the highest ranking reasons for concussions. Most athletes will have suffered at least one concussion by the time they stop playing sports. Doctors around the world, are finding out that most people have experienced a concussion at some point in their life (Rutherford). If people knew exactly what a concussion is, they would probably find that to be a scary …show more content…
Doctors have studied and concluded that over time the impact of concussions on athletes can cause permanent brain damage and leads to brain deterioration. However, one of the worst things that could happen after receiving a concussion is that an athlete experiences another concussion. The problem with athletes who receive multiple concussions is that brain damage can become permanent and can cause disabilities of the body (Dominguez 126). Those athletes who play sports their whole life are more likely to have these symptoms occur. Research shows that NFL players have a very high risk of developing a brain deterioration disease (Rutherford). Doctors have started realizing the major effects of concussions and continue to find more and more about the lifetime effects they cause. “In essence a neuropathologist did brain dissections on sports athletes who had several head injuries, and it was found that these athletes had similar findings under a microscope when looking at the brain cells of someone who has Alzheimer’s” ( Rutherford).
