Although Competitive sports can be very dangerous to many kids with injuries, others say that it is very beneficial to young kids. We think that it is a positive thing for kids and teens to participate in competitive sports. Competitive sports are essential to kids all around the world because they help kids by teaching them life lessons, they keep kids healthy, and they also help kids to do better in school.
One way competitive sports is essential to young kids is that it can keep them healthy. For example, studies show if students play 2 to 3 sports a year's the obesity rate will drop 39% (The Chart 1). This is significant because America is experiencing an obesity epidemic and we could do something to help. It could be as easy as playing 1 or 2 sports during a school year. Also, many kids need to eat healthier to keep up with the high demands of sports (Raja 1). This keeps the students healthier because their passion for the sport keeps them motivated.
