Persuasive Essay On Cloning Extinct Species

Decent Essays
My first reason they should not resurrect extinct species is that it's very expensive. They spend so much money on trying to resurrect extinct species when there is a very low survival rate. Clones usually have respiratory problems. They have cloned a Pyrenean Ibex but it had a collapsed lung and only lived about 10 minutes. They spent so much money to have it die in 10 minutes. They should at least try to advance their technology to get a higher the success rate. The success rate ranges between .1% to 3%. That means if scientists try to clone 1,000 only 1 to 30 clones are made. That means they had 970 to 999 failures.

Create a No Kill Nation It has been said that “the greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way that its animals are treated” and roughly 2.4 million healthful, adoptable cats and dogs—about one every 13 seconds—are euthanized in U.S. shelters every year. This means that of the 8 million animals handled by United States shelters, 30% of the animals’ lives are wasted. Many of these euthanasias are due to a lack of space within a shelter. Did you know that by purchasing a dog you can be contributing to the death of another dog? Due to the massive overpopulation of dogs, many are euthanized daily. By purchasing from a breeder or a pet store you are encouraging and supporting the business of breeding, which both adds to the problem of overpopulation, and supports animal cruelty at commercial dog breeding facilities. People should be adopting dogs from shelters, rather than buying them from breeders and pet stores. Shelters across our country are crowded due both to the increase in the population of dogs (and other animals), and not enough people willing or able to adopt them.…
