The Paris Agreement was first adopted by consensus on December 12th, 2015. It was put into action on November 4th 2016, and was made to unite many nations in an agreement to fight climate change for the first time in history. Nearly 200 countries have come to a consensus that greenhouse gas emissions need to be cut. Additionally, scientists point out that the Paris agreement needs to be stepped up to curb dangerous climate change (Briggs). U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has said that this agreement sends “a critical message to the global marketplace” to invest in green and renewable energies (Meyer). Director of Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research John Schellnhuber said, “If agreed and implemented, this means bringing down greenhouse-gas emissions to net zero within a few decades” (Briggs). Although alone the Paris agreement will not fully solve the crisis of climate change, it is a step in the right direction. The economy will demand more green resources and countries will work together to limit the amount of fossil
