She’s wearing a bikini, while she stands on stage in front of an audience, dancing and putting on a show to try and win money. Platinum blonde hair, extremely brown fake tan, the full face of makeup: lipstick, dramatic eyes, bright cheeks. She gets her eyebrows waxed on a Wednesday afternoon and her spray tan on a Saturday morning. Everything on her body is fake, from her eyelashes to even her teeth. Even some of the hair on her head is false. Every move she makes, every outfit and every eyelash batted is to make her stand out from the other girls and to try and earn her money. Her parents know of what she does, and actively encourage it. This girl that I am talking about is not yet in charge of her own destiny. She is only 7 years old.
At a first glance, it all seems like a little girl’s dream. Long, flowing dresses, like the Disney princesses that they grew up envying, bleach blonde hair and pink lipstick like the seemingly ‘perfect’ Barbie dolls that they get every year for their birthday. If they do their best, they can even win their own tiara! But all is not as it seems.

Lawmakers in France want to completely ban child beauty pageants for the reason that they are transforming little girls into ‘sexual morsels’. This is forcing our children to grow up quickly and is stripping them of their childhood. Little girls are supposed to be outside playing with their friends, learning new things at school and playing with their toys, not posing and dancing suggestively on a stage for a cash
