The Christian faith has adoption as one of its foundational principles. Christians believe that through faith in Jesus Christ, they become God’s adopted sons and daughters. For example in Ephesians it says “He (God) predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ according the purpose of His will(English Standard Version Bible, Eph. 1.5).” Meaning that God personally chose us to be His children. Another example of Biblical adoption is found in Romans, and says, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs-- heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him(English Standard Version Bible, Romans. 8.14-17).” Displaying that the those who have faith in Jesus, have the blessings of God, as if they were the true sons and daughters.
