Stop and take a look around at the world. All you see is technology, especially cell phones. Cell phones are taken everywhere, such as: to stores, to restaurants, and, shockingly, to the bathroom. Even though the cell phone might be used in these situations, and probably many other places, it is also used on school grounds more than it should be. Cell phones should not be allowed on school grounds because they cause distractions, cheating, and, sadly, bullying.
Students are constantly checking their phones during school causing many distractions to their education. Many say they can multitask, but studies show otherwise. It is proven that only two percent of people can multitask efficiently, and as for the other ninety-eight percent who think they can, are not multitasking correctly. Although bullying is done in almost every high school, it is much easier to do through cell phones. Rumors can be spread much faster than they would if there were no phones. A rumor can be spread one night and then everybody knows about it in less than an hour. Harassment is also a serious subject that happens because of cell phones. Text messages can be sent saying emotionally hurtful messages. Even though these messages are being sent from their home, more are sent during school to distract the other student. Because this bullying is online and hardly physical, it is hard to notice and harder to stop and the repercussions of it are depression, anxiety, suicide, or all three.
Cell phones should not be allowed on school grounds because it causes many distractions to a student's education, cheating is done more easily, and bullying is done more often. There are many possible solutions to solving this problem, but the most effective one is creating a strict cell phone policy, backed up by the administration, and having the appropriate
